We're a chef and designer who are looking to sublet our 1-bedroom garden level apartment in Brooklyn, NY. This apartment is cozy and charming with many amenities - perfect for a couple or single person who wants to spend a few months in New York who is on a budget, wants convenient access to the city but still wants a nice place to call home.

  • Fully furnished and tastefully decorated - just pack an overnight bag and you are ready to go!
We have many, many books - fiction, non-fiction, art, food culture, etc - it could keep you busy for years. We have a flat screen TV, DVD player and Roku box if you're more into movies, and a Wii for those moments when you need your Super Mario fix.
  • Open kitchen/living room layout - perfect for having company.
The couch converts into a bed for any overnight guests who may come to town, and the dining room table has extra leaves built in for that dinner party you were planning on throwing. Ceiling fans in both the living room and bedroom keep it cool in the summer.
  • Lovely patio with large garden box and patio furniture - relax with a mint julep in the sun.
The patio is perfect for entertaining, and a grill is also available for backyard BBQs. And get your green thumb going, there's plenty of sunlight and plants totally thrive in the garden box.
  • Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher - want to whip up some madeleines? No problem!
We have cabinets full of cooking equipment, including a Kitchen Aid, blender, full array of pots and pans, old school pasta machine, waffle maker, pullman loaf pans, pastry equipment - too much more to list. Clean up is a breeze with the dishwasher. Unsure what to make? We have shelves of recipe books to help with that.
  • Washer and dryer unit in the bedroom - extra convenient, no need to go to the laundromat.
Spend more time out and about than waiting for your laundry to finish!
  • Comfy bedroom - Gets great light all day in the spring and summer months.
The bedroom has a large closet, giant chest of drawers and cabinet with pullout drawers. Plenty of storage to organize your socks. Bathroom (shower and bathtub) with privacy door is connected to the bedroom.
  • Separate studio - great light for painting/drawing, with a separate door for privacy.
Coming to NY for artistic reasons? Why get a separate studio for so much more money when you can have one in your apartment?

This apartment is located in Stuyvesant Heights, a historic brownstone neighborhood with plenty of appeal. The Lewis Ave shops and restaurants such as Saraghina and Peaches are a short walk away through some of the most beautiful blocks in Brooklyn. Other neighborhood facilities include basketball and tennis courts, a running track, community gardens, and a farmers' market that sets up on Saturdays in the summer. Local bodega is super-stocked with a surprising variety and fairly decent prices.

The apartment itself is a 7 minute walk to the Utica Ave express subway stop on the A/C lines, which will get you into downtown Manhattan in less than 20 minutes, and to neighborhoods such as Clinton Hill, Fort Greene and DUMBO in even less time.

How much is it?

The rent is $1500 a month, inclusive of all utilities including gas, electric and internet. We require a one month deposit and 1st month's rent.

When is it available?

The sublet begins on March 1, 2010 and ends July 31st, 2010. You must be able to take on the apartment for the entire time period of 5 months.

Any other details I should know?

Please be able to supply references and be a non-smoker. Also, this place is probably not for people who are allergic to cats - we have one, and although the cat will be with someone else while we're gone and we keep the place as clean as possible, we can't guarantee the absence of cat allergens.

Please contact tracie.lee+sublet AT gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment to see the apartment.
